Several times over the weekend, I got into discussions with friends/family about Weight Watchers. It seems that more people in my life are partipating in it than ever before and why not? I really think it's one of the best ways to get into a healthier lifestyle that you can stick with. And this time of year everyone starts thinking about being healthier.
In any case these conversations nearly always turn to "tips and tricks". One point snacks you didn't know existed. Ways to make every day food healthier, etc. I thought I would share with you some of my tips and tricks and then anyone who has some can leave them in the comment section or email me. THEN I will make these into a master list and email it out to anyone who wants it along with some websites I find helpful.
Ok here's mine:
* Subsitute fat free cottage cheese for sour cream in dips. Just run it through the food processor to make it smooth and no one will know the difference. Since there is 1 point in 1/4 a cup of fat free sour cream and 1 point in 1/3 a cup of fat free cottage cheese - you can have more of it! Great for dip fanatics. (I do love dip)
* For coffee fanatics who like it sweet - try the sugar free liquid Coffeemates in hazlenut and french vanilla. All the taste of that large Hazlenut regular from Dunks but less than 1/2 the calories. Go here for a coupon.
*I learned at my friend Jenn's house last night: Popcorn Indiana's Kettle Corn is DELICIOUS, satisfies a sweet munchies attack and only 2 points a serving (for 2 cups!)
Ok, now you!

This is a great Weight Watchers blog - she has tons of delicious and super-healthy recipes and snack ideas: http://weightwatchen.com/index.htm
Also, I drink black coffee, but I add a touch of cinnamon to th grounds before I brew it. Adds a lil flavor without the sugar.
Great idea! I would love the tips and tricks list when you've compiled it. THANKS!
I might have to post a few times as I think of things, but for now, here's my tip...
Craving ice cream? Try freezing Cool Whip Free (ZERO points if you don't overdo it). It definitely satisfies your craving!!!
I do a cup of whole wheat fusilli pasta, 1/2 a package of frozen spinach, 1/4 cup light mozz, 1/4 cup nonfat ricotta, 1/2 cup pasta sauce. It's like 7 points and the best dinner !
Its an actual W.W. product - 1 point - and I love them. They are these little cakes that are in the freezer aisle. You can get a box of 8 in lemon, chocolate, or carrot, and the best part is they're only $4 CND! I've had the lemon & carrot, and even though they're small they really satisfy that sweet craving.
I too was going to share the frozen Cool Whip Free. Try it in between a graham cracker and a little (don't overdo it) Hershey's Syrup for that almost S'mores taste!
Forgot to include this:
http://www.dwlz.com/
she has most restaurants on there...got to ignore the ads all over the screen, but the points are there!
I need to get back on the WW bandwagon. I need to start cooking more than I have lately and less of the processed food #*#*@. That's what happens when one is at work forever and a day. *sigh*
OK - my tip - before I go off on a tangent *LOL* - I just got into the Organic Milk phase - the fat free milk tastes less watery than what one might find the store, lasts longer AND while it's more expensive, it is well worth it. I also measure out everything. Cereal, milk, raisins, etc.
As for ice coffee - I've taken to getting a iced latte (no flavoring) at 'Bucks - a dash of cinnamon, nonfat milk and 2 equal and that keeps me from getting all exorcist-like at work. If any more tips come my way, I'll let ya know.
Thanks Sarah for posting this!
I heart the Laughing Cow cheese. 1 wedge is only 1 point and they come in a few different colors.
I also really like the WW frozen desserts - the cheesecake especially!
This isn't WW but the Skinny Cow ice cream treats are extremely low fat and delicious (on the pricey side but worth it!)
damn! I thought about this all morning and all I can come up with has already been mentioned. I LOVe weightwatchen.com, I don't cook much, but I love to read her recipes. My afternoon snack almost daily at work is an apple with a laughing cow light swiss cheese wedge, awesome and tastes very 'rich'. Love the skinny cow bars, but the weight watchers 'giant fudge bar' is (I think) the best. I also love the little ice cream cups, mainly for portion control, I always go back for more ice cream if I just put it in a bowl. For lunch, I LOVE a half a lite whole grain english muffin with a morning star 'pizza' burger with some chunky vege tomato sause topped with fat free or low fat mozz cheese, yum! very comforting and warm, but still light. I'll usually eat that with a salad. Oh, and I LOVE the green giant (I think) simply steam frozen veggies.
I don't have lots of hints, but those seemed to work for me when I was WW (infact, I just had a "veggie burger parm" for lunch. Good luck!
Oh! I almost forgot, Jimmy Dean D-LIghts breakfast sandwiches. I LOVE the turkey sausage, egg, and cheese, I don't know the points, but they are awesome. (I do, however, LOVE breakfast sandwiches)
WW has a fruit dip...fat free cool whip blended with fat free vanilla pudding...so sweet and great with strawberries. Lately I've been eating dried black mission figs with a small handfull of almonds. The figs are sweet, the almonds are supposed to make you feel 'full' between meals.
I don't know much about Weight Watchers, but instead of ice cream for dessert I love to eat fruit juice popsicles. I'm sure you can make your own but you can also buy them--I think Blue Bunny makes some--and they're like 35 calories. Eat them slow, make them last!
I have to get back on the wagon.
My tip, true lemon or true lime. They are little packets that bring flavor to the 8 glasses of water we should drink. No calories..it basically makes the water taste like slices of either have been squeezed in the water it has no sweetner.
I've belonged to a weight-loss website for years now. One of the best recipes I got from these ladies was "hot yummy".
Take a head of cauliflower and cook it until it is really, really mushy. Mash it up with some fat-free sour cream and laughing cow cheese. Season with salt and pepper. I like putting some hot sauce in for a kick. But it makes a cheesy, starchy, yummy mess of a meal for very, very little points.
I like those crystal light 'on the go' packets -- I have a hard time drinking so much water, and the packets make it easier. My favorite flavor is the raspberry lemonade.
Thanks for the tips - I really like your blog!
I just put one of my best 5 point meals on my blog!!!!
