Must Have Mustard Burgers

Grey Poupon recently came out with a new selection of gourmet mustards. Bzzagent.com* sent me three jars to try out and have my friends try out and when they arrived yesterday, I was immediately inspired.


I love me some mustard!

Since I had already planned on grilling turkey burgers for dinner last night. I thought why not sass it up and incorporate the mustard into the burgers. After a brief taste test I decided the Harvest Course Ground mustard was the way to go. You know how I love my stuffed burgers, so I figrued what cheese goes better with a nice hearty mustard than Gouda? And so Mustard Turkey Burgers Stuffed with Gouda were born.

1 lb ground turkey
1 small onion, chopped finely.
1 egg white
¼ c breadcrumbs
2 tbsp fresh parsley (or 1 tsp dried)
2 tbsp Grey Poupon Harvest Course Ground mustard
8 thin slices Gouda
4 whole wheat buns

Combine all the ingredients but Gouda. Mix until JUST blended and then form into four equally sized mounds. Form each mound into two equally sized patties. Plate , cover and refridgerate for ½ an hour. Remove from fridge, place 2 slices of Gouda in between each patty and mold until cheese is totally covered and it looks like one burger.



Then I used a tip my friend Vicki gave me a few months ago – I popped them in the freezer for 10 minutes before grilling them to keep them from separating on the grill and it totally worked! So thanks Vicki! That is a neat trick.

Once they were done I served them up with some homemade sweet potato fries



The mustard is what really made this burger incredible. It was really hearty and delcious with a zing. And the gouda was the perfect compliment! I am so mustard-psyched right now that I will be trying out Honey Mustard Chicken Burgers next week so keep an eye out for that.

ohhh these sound delicious!! please please also post how you make sweet potato fries! I've tried to make them before but I gave up when some were burnt, others were soggy, etc.

sure thing!!

4 medium sized sweet potatoes
1 tbsp olive oil
1 tbsp taco seasoning

Peel and slice the potatoes so they are all uniform (I use a mandolin to get this done, but you can use a knife and just try to make them all the same size so they cook at the same speed. Toss them in a bowl with the oil and taco seasoning, and then bake on a greased cookie sheet at 425 degrees for about 10-12 minutes, at 5 minutes take them out and shuffle them around a bit then put them back in! Check them at 10 minutes. Ovens vary and these are so tempermental the worst thing you can do is just stick them in the oven and walk away ( I know, I have burned my fair share of these!).
