Day Six

Breakfast: Soy Smoothie and Fruit Salad
Lunch: Chick Pea Salad
Snack: Wasabi Almonds
Dinner: Veggie Burger on Gluten Free Bread, Vegetable Chips from Trader Joe's.

Ok confession time: I totally had some wine last night. And Adam had a couple of beers. We amended the cleanse to allow us to have a few drinks on the weekend because frankly it's cookout season and the idea of having to get by with club soda just makes the cleanse that much harder. Plus, it's not supposed to be about deprivation but learning and expanding our mind about what we eat. And I don't think a few glasses of wine on a Friday night takes anything away from that.

And my first glass of wine since last Saturday? Tasted AWESOME. I love you, wine.

In any case the cleanse marches on. I am really loving Dr. Praegar's Gluten Free Veggie Burgers. Especially on the toasted brown rice bread. Delicious!! And quite filling.

Lessons Learned:
1) If you're doing something like this, you shouldn't be feeling deprived. So much of this food is extremely filling and what would you really be learning if you felt like you were missing out on something the whole time. In the words of Kathy Freston, who originated the cleanse "It's okay to have a glass of wine and enjoy it. It hurts no one. This is not about deprivation, so feel no guilt. Leaning in sometimes means you have to stop, take a rest and look at the view."
2) Yes I am trying to justify drinking wine last night. Go with it!
